ABOUT

7-time Grammy Award-nominated, 3-time Grammy Award-winning music producer, audio engineer, mixer, sound designer, and front-of-house (FOH) engineer, Marc Urselli is an interdisciplinary artist, scholar, and devotee of all things art, sound & music. He works for and collaborates with musical & visual artist, bands, musicians, composers, theater directors, film, TV, brands & mixed media multi-disciplinaries, artists and entities around the world.

He has worked with U2, Foo Fighters, Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Sting, Keith Richards, Kesha, Jeff Beck, Les Paul, Buddy Guy, Luther Vandross, Børns, The Black Crowes, Frank Sinatra, Joss Stone, Mike Patton, John Zorn, Jack DeJohnette, Esperanza Spalding, John Patitucci, Laurie Anderson, David J (Bauhaus) and scores of artists performing jazz, rock, metal, blues, pop, electronica, experimental/avantgarde/new music, and classical music.

Marc Urselli is the chief engineer at EastSide Sound (the oldest-running recording studio in New York City's Lower EastSide) and owner / chief engineer at Audio Confidential (his analog NEVE console-equipped recording studio in Midtown Manhattan). Otherwise, he’s active in studios worldwide, including Abbey Road (London), Village Recorders (LA), Capitol Sound (LA), EastWest (LA), Sunset Sound (LA), Sear Sound (NY), Flux (NY), and Grouse Lodge (Dublin), among others.

Marc was born in Switzerland and raised in Italy. His musical education began at age 7 and by 17 he opened his first commercial recording facility in Italy.

Marc is also an avid traveler, foodie and entrepreneur whose interests include the arts, food (check out his food blog at Touring Foodie), kitesurfing, snowboarding, writing...

ART WORLD

Marc Urselli has provided his unique brand site-specific composition, sound installations and/or sound design for visual artists such as Ethiopian-American Julie Mehretu, Italian painter/multimedia artist Federico Solmi, Italian sculptor/painter Arianna Carossa, French lighting artist Laurent Fort, Chilean video artist Nicolás Rupcich, American installation artist Michelle Jaffé and more.

Marc's sound design has been featured, presented, or exhibited at the 2024 Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy, The Park Avenue Armory in New York, NY, the Modern Art Museum of Santiago de Chile, Chile, Le Son 7 Galleries in London, UK / New York, NY / Madrid, Spain / Paris, France, Villa Hanbury in Ventimiglia, Italy, the Castello della Lucertola in Apricale, Italy, the Galeria na Dziedziniec in Poznan, Poland, The New Gallery in Hudson, New York and the Governors Island Art Fair, New York.

In September of 2025 Marc Urselli had his first opening in a major art museum in collaboration with Mexican surrealist painter Marianela De la Hoz. The exhibition is called "Palpitations" and it is currently on view at the San Diego Museum of Art until February of 2026. You can read more about it here.

Marc Urselli has worked as sound-designer in theater & modern opera productions with theater directors such as Peter Sellars and Julian Crouch, and contemporary classical composers such as MacArthur fellow Tyshawn Sorey, MacArthur fellow & Pulitzer Prize finalist John Zorn, Rome Prize winner Paola Prestini, Music Critics Association of North America Award winner Missy Mazzoli and many others.
