I record ensembles of all sizes, from solo piano or singer-songwriters with just a guitar & a vocal mic to full orchestras with choirs and everything in between. I record countless rock bands with loud amps as well as quiet jazz trios or string quartets. I also record weird instruments, self-built instruments and exotic hard to find and hard to mic instruments from all over the world.
I've mixed everyone from rock bands like U2 and Foo Fighters to rock legends like Lou Reed to subtle and intimate solo piano albums by Jack De Johnette to Pulitzer Prize winning operas by Chinese composer Du Yun and about 75+ albums by Pulitzer nominee and MacArthur Fellow John Zorn. Large track counts don't scare me and I am equally comfortable on an analog console and with an in-the-box digital setup.
I produce artists who are looking for someone who can guide them in the process of creating an album or producing a single. I am not a co-writer and I don't make beats. I am a producer in the intended meaning of the term: I work to bring the vision of the artist to life! I can help you, provide guidance, pair you up with the best musicians, take care of the logistics, offer you my experience, help you with arrangements and get the best out of yourself and your songs.
If you need to record a live concert I can help. I've recorded orchestras with two mics and I've recorded full bands to multi-track. I can record any number of tracks depending on your budget and I will offer you different options to accomplish your live recording.
I have mixed FOH (Front Of House) sound in every situation: from small jazz clubs to festivals with 40,000 concertgoers. I've mixed concerts and tours for Lou Reed, The Black Crowes, The Beach Boys, John Zorn, Mike Patton, Laurie Anderson, Marianne Faithful, Eliane Elias and even the White House. I've been on tours to Europe, South America, Australia and the United States. Sorry but I do not mix monitors, 'cause I'm in it for the art! ;-)
I always recommend hiring a mastering engineer to have a fresh set of ears, but I've mastered plenty of albums that I have mixed. I have also mastered albums that were already mixed by others. I can provide you with mastered mixes ready for CD pressing, vinyl cutting, iTunes streaming and radio play. I can provide DDP masters for your CD releases and provide you with previews and MP3s.
